“Exactly.” ((I should’ve known!))
((Always assume I’m causing mischief >:3))
“But!” He interjected. “The Susan…Well,Susans, actually…that I know…is a kind, caring girl. A conglomeration of…lord knows how many years of experiences. Those bad experiences are among them. They are a part of you now Susan. I know they hurt. But you can’t let them weigh you down.”
He looked ahead. The sun was setting. ” ‘Because of, or in spite of?’ “
He looked back at Susan’s confused face. “A motto my mother taught me. It means…will you be sad because of your or someone elses actions. Or…will you be determined and wiser in spite of them?”

Susan looked at him, and shook her head. “It doesn’t always work like that.”
“And why shouldn’t it? I may sound like a hypocrite here, but…” He patted her on the shoulder. “You’ve saved the world, haven’t you? Done good things. Made friends. The bad things don’t always have to spoil the good.”
“I wish it was worked like that. I…” she couldn’t think of the words. After all, how do you say that you’ve done a life time of bad? ((She had a shit second regeneration.))
“You don’t have to say it Susan. I understand. Different faces, different Susan.”
((I know. I was the anon who gave you that headcanon prompt :3 ))

Susan nodded. “Trust me.”
“Always” Kevin smiled a bit.
Susan shook her head. “No. Not always. Just right now.”
“Why not always? I’ve seen you with two different faces and two different species. And you’ve yet to steer me wrong.”
“I uh-.” she had a hard time explaining it. “Look… I’ve lived a long time, and I’ve done a few things I’m not proud of. Just… Look it’s not important right now.”
“Everyone’s done things they aren’t proud of” He looked up to his friend. “Doesn’t mean they aren’t good people at their core.”

Kevin quelled the flames around him, but remained silent.
Susan just sat there. She was there if he needed her.
“I’ve always had a habit of rambling you know. Even when I got my powers I noted what types of rocks my armor was made of, how I could manipulate certain forces, what have you.”
Susan nodded slightly.
“Don’t know when to stop is my problem.”

Kevin calmly strolled up to the roof. He sat there, next to the door that opened up to it. He sat in quiet self-loathing. Flames licked up around him as his anger towards himself grew, and he tucked his knees up to his chest. He cared about Susan, even if they had only recently met.
Steam rose from his face as a tear rolled down his cheeks.
Susan slowly found her way up to the roof. She, herself often went to think about things. She was him, eyes closed, sitting there. She has those moments a lot. She quietly sat down next to him.
Kevin quelled the flames around him, but remained silent.
